Ronald Voveris

Ronald Voveris, 79, of Yatesville, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Pittston to the late Bronis and Frances Baltuska Voveris.

He was a graduate of Pittston High School, class of 1960. He was a proud Army Veteran serving from 1964 to 1966. He retired from US Post Office after 35 years. After retirement, he worked at K-Mart, Wal-Mart, and Sunshine Market.


Ron was a member of the Knights of Lithuania Council 143, Knights of Columbus, Pittston Senior Center, Dupont VFW, 59 year member of US Postal Union; 10 year member of Sue’s Country Line Dancing Class. Former member of St. Casimir’s Church, now St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.


Ron enjoyed daily walking, country line dancing, traveling, gardening fishing, playing

piano and guitar and writing short stories and poetry.


Surviving are his wife, Mary Claire O’Brien Voveris; son Christopher Voveris and his husband James Silfee, Laflin; step-daughter, Gina Warnagiris and husband Robert, Inkerman; step-son Russell Zapko and wife Danielle, Factoryville; 101 year old Aunt Anne Adams, Wilkes-Barre; brothers, Francis Voveris and his wife Anita, Ohio; Lt Col Bronis Voveris and wife Col Susan, New Mexico; sisters, Joan, Berwick; Roberta, Plains; Paulyna Nutaits and husband Ray, Florida; Angela Walsh and husband Richard, Florida; grandchildren, Carly Warnagiris, Kyle, Ryan, Gretta, and Grayden Zapko and Grayson Voveris; many nieces and nephews.


The family will receive friends and relatives Wednesday, July 6, 2022, from 4pm-7pm in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Interment, St. Michael’s Byzantine Cemetery, Union Street, Pittston. Memorial donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist Food Pantry.
