Robert E. Toole

Robert E. Toole, 90, a lifetime resident of Exeter, died Monday, November 6, 2023, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley.


Born April 15, 1933, in Pittston. He was the son of the late Eleanor Gramas Toole and James Toole.


Robert or as he liked to be called “Bobby” was a graduate of Pittston High School, class of 1952. Bobby married the love of his life the former Arlene Stankewicz. They were married for 67 years. Bobby worked in the garment industry and for Gruen. He was a lifetime member of the Pittston City Fire Department and a member of St. Casimir’s/St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.


Bobby loved to travel in his earlier days and had a love for pizza, sweets, sports – especially Penn State and Notre Dame and the occasional beer. He also had a love for cats and rescued quite a few including his faithful companion, Tiger, who was always by his side.


He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, John “Jackie” Toole, James “Junior” Toole, Joseph Toole, Delores Mordente, Marion Beer and Nora P. Armitage.


Bobby is survived by his wife, Arlene, nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended family and friends.


A special Thank You goes out to Bobby’s caregivers – nephew, John J. Armitage and his wife, Bonnie and their family, for the care and support they provided Bobby throughout the years.


The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday, November 9, 2023, from 4pm-6pm in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 10, 2023, at 9:30am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. Interment will follow in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Pittston.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bobby’s name to the Care and Concern Clinic of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston or to Blue Chip Farm Animal Rescue, 974 Lockville Road, Dallas, PA18612.
