Nicholas Cascio, 91, of Pittston Township, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021, in Wilkes Barre General Hospital.
Born in Castelcivita, Salerno, Italy on 11/03/1929, he was the son of the late Carmine and Mariantonia Costantino Cascio.
Nicholas attended school in Italy and came to the United States at the age of 19. He worked in the local coal mines and was a survivor of the Knox Mine Disaster. He retired working from Construction Unlimited.
Nicholas enjoyed planting a large vegetable garden and winemaking. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Jean Lafoca Cascio; son Carmen Cascio, Pittston Township; daughter Mary Grace Walkowiak and her husband Gerard, Wilkes-Barre; granddaughter Lucia Walkowiak and her fiancé Daren Miller; brother, John Cascio, Pittston Township; niece, Maria Evers, Pittston Township and nephew, Carmen Cascio, Italy.
The family will receive friends and relatives Monday, September 20, 2021, from 8:00am-9:30am in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Interment, St. Rocco’s Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN38105-9959.
