Michael Finnerty, 64, of Old Forge, passed away Thursday evening, April 7, 2022, in Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, Dunmore, surrounded by his family.
Born in Pittston on June 13, 1957, he was the son of Rita Munley Finnerty and the late Patrick Finnerty.
Michael was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School, Pittston and Luzerne County Community College. He was employed by UPS for 20 years and was owner/operator of “KMB Shamrock” Transportation. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert T. Finnerty; aunt, Joan Munley; brother-in-law, Alan Zurek; and nieces, Dena Finnerty and Sara Zurek.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are
his wife of 36 years, Linda Zurek Finnerty;
daughter, Kerry Hoffman (Michael) Old Forge; sons, Michael Finnerty (Kaity), Drums and Brian Finnerty, Allentown; grandchildren, Logan and Raelynn Finnerty and Michael Hoffman; brothers, Tom Finnerty (Mary), Camp Hill and Patrick Finnerty (Beth) Brigantine, NJ; sisters, Mary Claire Kabacinski (Stanley), Lancaster and Maureen Roman (Frank), Pittston; brother-in-law, Edward Zurek (Alane), Suscon; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and relatives Monday, April 11, 2022, from 4pm-7pm in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA18702.

Our condolences to his wife Linda and their children. My memories are primarily when Michael was a young boy and our family (Kinney’s) spent lots of time with the Finnerty’s. Michael was an adorable fun loving kid.Our heart’s go out to everyone who loved him especially his family and all of our Finnerty cousins.
