Mary Claire Gallagher

Mary Claire Gallagher, 80, of Pittston Township, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.


Born in Pittston on May 9, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John and Jule Musto Gallagher.

 

Mary Claire was the 1961 Valedictorian of the graduating class of Pittston Township High School.  She was a life-long member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston. 

 

She started her work career as a secretary at Pittston Hospital.  After leaving Pittston Hospital, she began working in the Public-School System, first at Northeast High School where she was the supervisor of the child account office.  Later, she worked as the secretary to the Superintendent of Pittston Area School District, Gerard Musto.  She retired as the secretary of the Guidance Department.  Mary Claire took great pride in her work for the Pittston Area School District.

 

Mary Claire was the matriarch of her extended family.  Her home was always open and she welcomed generations of family and friends alike.  She was most happy surrounded by them.  Her many acts of kindness and generosity will be forever remembered.  She will be greatly missed.

 

Mary Claire is survived by her sister, Jacqueline Ann Gallagher, Pittston Township and numerous cousins. 

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 6, 2024, at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston.   There will be no calling hours.  Interment,  Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.  Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
