George N. Morgan Sr.

George N. Morgan Sr., 88, of Exeter passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022 at home.

Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late John Patrick Morgan and Hazel Naugle Morgan. He attended Pittston Area Schools and worked as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service for many years until retirement.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a true gentleman. He was a member of St Barbara’s Parish, Exeter. He was a youth baseball and football coach for many years, first in Pittston and then in Exeter. He had many fond memories of the athletes he coached and enjoyed following their accomplishments. He was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed going to Beaver Stadium for Penn State football games and many memorable tailgates. He was also a fan of the Eagles, Phillies, Wyoming Area, and any team on which his grandchildren played. He enjoyed playing the game of golf with his sons and friends. He loved many years of family vacations to Ocean City, Maryland. Everyone was always welcome in his home, especially for holiday dinners and backyard cookouts. He loved his Sullivan Street friends who were like family to him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son in law James M Gambini, sister Hazel Dennis, and brothers, Jack, Eugene, David and Raymond Morgan.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Lucille Chiampi Morgan; daughters Lucille Morgan, Exeter, Melissa Gambini, Plains, and Donna Morgan, Los Angeles CA; sons, Michael (Theresa) Kingston, George (Mary), Mississippi, John (Michelle), Exeter, and Don, Kingston. His true legacy is his grandchildren whom he adored: Gabrielle, John Patrick, Aiden, Katherine, Jacob, Daniel, and Samantha Morgan. His grandchildren loved their “Gramps” deeply and will continue to live the lessons he instilled in each of their lives. In addition, George is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The Morgan family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses from Bayada and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their excellent care.

The family will receive friends and relatives Wednesday, January 4, 2023, from 5pm-8pm in Adonizio Funeral Home LLC, 251 William Street Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 9:00 am in The Parish of St. Barbara, 224 Memorial Street, Exeter.
