Florence Gelso, 102, formerly of Pittston, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025 in Woburn, Massachusetts.

Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Emilio and Carmella Ardoline Nardone. Florence was a graduate of Pittston High School.
She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved a good mystery novel, a competitive card game and a nice, clean house. She helped raise her grandchildren and her great-granddaughters, Julia and Claire, who were the loves of her life. She will be truly missed.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her, son, Atty. Charles Gelso and his wife Maryanne Gelso; her daughter, Rosalia Strasser and her husband Paul Strasser; also her siblings, brother, Patrick Nardone; sisters, Clementine Sola, Margaret Aritz, and Gloria Vullo.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Carrie Strasser and her husband Matthew Naughton, Burlington, Massachusetts; grandson, Max Strasser, Quincy, Massachusetts; and granddaughter Marjorie Gelso, Nanticoke; great-granddaughters, Julia and Claire Naughton; and brother-in-law Louis Vullo, West Pittston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Corpus Christi Parish, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston. The family will receive friends and relatives at the church from 10 a.m. to service time. Private interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
