Carmen Patrick Colarusso, 96, of West Pittston, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024, at home. Born in Pittston on January 20, 1928, he was the son of the late George and Zelinda (Elizabeth) Casterline Colarusso.
Carmen attended Pittston Schools and served in the US Navy during World War II. He later completed his GED through the University of Scranton.
He retired as a Supervisor having worked at Tobyhanna Army Depot for 25 years. Upon retiring from Tobyhanna, he worked part-time for nearly 20 years at CVS Pharmacy, often entertaining the staff and customers with his jokes and contagious laugh. He was blessed with 35 years of retirement. Prior to slowing down, he enjoyed many years of travel with his wife and the two were seen everywhere together in all of the local establishments.
His true passion was his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. Back in the day, he was a proud Wyoming Area football parent and West Pittston Little League baseball manager. He just simply enjoyed being involved with his three sons and everybody was welcome in his home. He was an avid New York Yankees, Penn State Football and Pennsylvania Polka fan. Carmen was a man of faith and was a lifelong member of The Immaculate Conception Parish (Corpus Christi Parish) in West Pittston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Patrick (Curley) Colarusso and Joseph Colarusso and sisters, Mary Martin and Doris Vidzar.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Ruth Petritis Colarusso, sons, Carmen Colarusso, West Pittston; John Colarusso and his partner Lisa Mulhern, Lehman Township; and Michael Colarusso and his wife, Kimberly, Doylestown; grandchildren, Dana Colarusso and Abby Colarusso, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and relatives Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 10am-11am in Corpus Christi Parish, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am. Private interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Wyoming. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
