Ann Marie Panek, 96, of Dupont, formerly of Hillsborough New Jersey, passed away February 6th, 2025 at Mountain Top Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, with husband & daughter at her side.

Born in Dupont, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Sudol Turkos, and graduated from Dupont High School.
Ann and husband Frank loved to travel to every corner of the US and overseas, where Poland/Europe and Australia/New Zealand became favorites. One annual travel plan that Ann always looked forward to was lining up their week-long vacation retreat down south with daughter Janet & Rick.
People always admired Ann’s dedication to her children and their families, the Polish National Catholic Church (including Dupont PA & Dunellen NJ). Ann spent years hard at work with a career in administrative services after all four children graduated from Hillsborough High in NJ, and she enjoyed growing flowers/veggies around the home & garden. She was blessed with the gift of gab, storytelling, and relishing in conversations after church and at gatherings.
Whatever was on Ann’s agenda, she would work hard to tackle any challenge. Living her youngest years through the Great Depression gave her a distinct perspective, a positive outlook, dedication to family, diligence, routine, and a stubborn side that was memorable too. Nothing made her smile like her beloved grandchildren, Jessica, Lauren, Margo & Shoal.
In addition to her parents Ann was preceded in death by her siblings; her brothers, Stanley, John and Andrew Turkos and sisters, Helen Mayhoff and Cecilia Sobolesky.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Francis J. Panek, children; daughter, Janet Panek-Harding (Rick), Mt. Top, sons, John Panek (Susan), New Jersey, Mark Panek, New Jersey, and Raymond Panek (Samantha) New Hampshire.
Also surviving are grandchildren; Jessica Panek, Lauren Talento, Margo Panek, and Shoal Panek.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday from 4pm-6pm at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC 251 William Street, Pittston.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 11am in Holy Mother of Sorrows Church, 212 Wyoming Ave. Dupont, celebrated by the Very Rev. Zbigniew Dawid, Pastor, those wishing to attend are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
