Anita Montante, 80 of West Pittston, passed away Friday November 8, 2024 at home with her husband and children by her side.
Born on August 5, 1944 she was the daughter of late John S. and Mary Vaxmonsky Prischak, she was a life long resident of West Pittston.
Anita graduated from West Pittston High School and Pittston Hospital School of Nursing. In her earlier years she worked as an LPN at Taylor Hospital and as a dental assistant for her brother-in-law Dr. Charles J. Montante. Anita worked as the cafeteria manager for the Wyoming Area School District until her retirement.
Anita was a loving mother and devoted wife who dedicated her life to her family and loved ones. With her generous and caring heart, she touched the lives of so many and would go out of her way to help her family and friends when they needed it most. She had a lust for life, and she enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends. She relished deep and abiding friendships with her life-long friends: friendships that only strengthened as the decades passed. She was active in her community, serving as the last president of the West Pittston Junior Women’s club. Her faith was one of the cornerstones of her life and was reflected in her willingness to help when people needed it the most. She was a blessing to all and will be missed.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Michelle.
Surviving, her loving husband, Angelo Montante, daughter, Melissa Montante McHale, West Pittston, son, Dr. Steven Montante and wife Shelly, Richmond VA. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Alexandra McHale, Joseph, Samuel, Michael, and June Montante and step-grand children, Patrick, Chloe, and Samantha, sister, Mary Jane Wronski, brother-in-law, Peter Montante and his wife Janice, and sister-in-law Paulette Montante, numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and relatives, Friday November 15, 2024 from 4-7pm at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC 251 William Street, Pittston.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday November 16, 2024 at 10am in Immaculate Conception Church, Corpus Christi Parish, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston, those wishing to attend are asked to go directly to the church. Interment, St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Exeter.
Donations in Anita’s memory may be made to the Social Concerns Committee, Immaculate Conception Church.
