Michael A. Orleski, Sr.


Michael A. Orleski, Sr. 76, of Harding, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Duryea on September 29, 1942, he was the son of the late John and Stella (Abent) Orleski.

He was a graduate of Hughestown High School and served in the US Navy from 1961 to 1966.

He was an avid hunter and was owner of Six Point Rod and Gun Club in Forkston where he enjoyed hunting with family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and his greatest joy was his five grandchildren.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, Pittston.

He retired from Cascade Tissue Group after 44years working as an electrician.

Special thank you to the nurses and staff at Keystone Garden Estates where Michael was a resident for the past month and a half; and to the nurses and staff of Wilkes Barre General Hospital Emergency Department and Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Michael.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother John Orleski and sisters Cecilia Bectold; Theresa Cebula; and Stella Miller.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years Vera (Scalzo) Orleski; daughter Sherry Orleski Spudis, Exeter; son Michael A. Orleski Jr. and his wife Melanie, Falls; grandchildren, Stephanie Spudis and her fiancé Jeremy Roberts; Connor Spudis; Mitchell Higley; Michael Orleski, III; and Marina Orleski; aunt Mary LaManna, Hughestown; sister Virginia Holleran, Pittston; brothers Edward Orleski and his wife Joan, Harding; and Vince Orleski, Hughestown; numerous sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 8:45am from Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, 535 N. Main Street, Pittston. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Assumption Cemetery, Rock Street, Hughestown. Friends may call Tuesday, March 19, 2019 from 4pm-8pm at the funeral home.
