John J. Widdick, Jr., 67, of Exeter, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018, surrounded by his family in Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre. Born in Taylor on December 31, 1950, he was the son of the late John and Norma Pascolini Widdick.
He graduated from Pittston Area and until his retirement had worked at Bridon American and Leslie Fay.
John was a member of St. Barbara’s Parish, Exeter. He was also a member of Moose Lodge, West Pittston; Plymouth Golf League; Moose Dart League; and Bridon Exeter Rec Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, collecting baseball cards and traveling especially to Disney and the Caribbean. He was an avid fan of the NY Jets – he shared this special bond with his nephew, Josh. He traveled to Disney numerous times; it was his favorite and happiest place and he was like a kid there. One of his favorite trips was to see the San Francisco 49ers with his son, John and grandson, Beau in Buffalo. He loved to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Dennis Widdick.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years Rose Ann Bone Widdick, Exeter; daughter Jennifer Gronka and her husband Mike, Yatesville; son John Widdick and his wife Leslie, Pittston Township; sister Suzanne Patrick and her husband Gary, Exeter; brothers Steven Widdick and his wife Denise, Old Boston and Bruce Widdick, Pittston; sister-in-law Doreen Widdick, Pittston; grandchildren Loren, Halle, and Sophia Gronka and Beau and Milania Widdick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 17, 2018, at 8:45am from Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Cecelia’s Church, 1670 Wyoming Avenue, Exeter, with Father Michael Finn, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. Friends may call Thursday, August 16, 2018, from 5pm to 8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Barbara Parish Social Concerns Committee.
