Carmella Caprio


Carmella Caprio, 102, passed away Thursday, November 23. 2017, in Wesley Village. Born in Pittston on April 20, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Domenica Butera Blandina.

She was a graduate of Pittston High School and was employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry, retiring from Lee Manufacturing.

Mrs. Caprio was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.

She was a fabulous cook and baker – her specialties included cannoli, Italian cookies, and Easter pizza. She also made cappelletti for Gina’s and Antionette’s, Wyoming. She took great pride in and dearly loved her family. She will be truly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Caprio, Sr., son-in-law, Robert Migatulski, Sr.; brothers Michael Blandina and Leonard Blandina; sisters, Concetta Sabetta and Angela Gilroy.

Surviving are her daughter, Gloria Jean Migatulski, Pittston; and son, Joseph Caprio Jr. and his wife Nancy, Pittston; four grandsons, Robert Migatulski, Jr., Pittston; Joseph Migatulski, Pittston; Joseph (J.J.) Caprio, III and fiancé Cody Anderson, Mehoopany; and Michael Caprio, Pittston; great-grandson Gavin Caprio; sisters, Rose Sidarovich, Kingston and Vincentina (Babe) Fulmer, Wyoming; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at 9 am from Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. Entombment will follow in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. Friends may call Monday, November 27, 2017, from 4pm-7pm at the funeral home.
