Louis Macareo, 80, of Wyoming, PA, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Pittston on May 9, 1937, he was the son of the late Joseph and Angeline (Sanzalone) Macareo.
Louis attended Pittston schools and served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era.
He was self-employed in the carpet industry owning Wyoming Valley Interiors. Louis was a member of the Italian Christian Church, Pittston and the American Legion.
He was a loving husband and father and will be truly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Frank Macareo, Angelo Macario, Joseph Macareo and Dominick Macario; sisters, Josephine Terrana and Lena Gaydos.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Helen Pucylowski Macareo; son, Col. Louis Robert X. Macareo, Thailand; brother James Macareo and his wife Lena, Exeter; sister, Rose Turoni, Wyoming; sisters-in-law, Antoinette Luce and her husband Charles, Bear Creek, Tina Macario, Irma Macareo and Elaine Macareo; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 9am from Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston with religious services at 9:30am in Italian Christian Church, 40 E. Oak Street, Pittston. Interment will follow in Wyoming Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 4pm-8pm at the funeral home.
