Dante J. Bovani, Sr., 76, of West Pittston, died peacefully at home Monday, April 17, 2017. Born in West Pittston on February 7, 1941, he was the son of the late Sergio and Jennie (DelSerra) Bovani.
He was a graduate of West Pittston High School and served in the US Army Reserves. He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston. He was a former West Pittston Auxiliary Policeman. He was the owner/operator of Bovani Service Station in West Pittston which was founded by his father Sergio in 1951. Later expanding to Bovani Towing currently operated by his son, Dante.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Besides his wife Gloria, the loves of his life were his grandchildren. He will be truly missed.
He loved going to Agolino’s Restaurant in West Pittston where he was a daily customer. He had perfect attendance at the Mohegan Sun casino.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Maria in 1987.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Gloria Manoski Bovani. They would have celebrated 53 years of marriage in September. Also surviving are son, Dante Bovani Jr. and his wife Laura Dennis, West Pittston; grandchildren, Dante Tyler, 15 and Mia, 6; sisters-in-law, Eleanore and her husband Jerry Walker, West Pittston; Bernice and her husband Robert Puchalski, NJ; and Karen and her husband John Turco, Dallas; brother-in-law, Stanley Manoski and his wife Janice, NJ; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 10:00am in Corpus Christi Parish, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church Thursday morning. Interment will follow in West Pittston Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 4pm-8pm at Adonizio Funeral Home LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
