Marie T. McDonnell, 95, of Pittston passed way Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Pittston on May 11, 1921, she was the daughter of the late James and Theresa McDonnell.
She was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School, class of 1940. She had worked at Curry Bake Shop, Lazarus; Kimble – Owens-Illinois, and the Convenient Market on William Street, Pittston. She retired at the age of 82.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston and enjoyed watching mass on television and spent much time praying. She also enjoyed watching the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins Hockey. She loved all animals, especially her dogs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by brothers, Francis and Joseph McDonnell and a niece, Sister Dorothy McDonnell, IHM.
Surviving are longtime friends and caregivers, Bob and Mary Reynolds; Louis and Ann Kern all of Pittston; nieces, Susan (Thomas) Trycieki, Mechanicsville; Mary Beth Hickey, Tryone; nephew, Charles Draus, Mechanicsville; several great nieces; great nephews; great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 9:30am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church. The family will receive friends and relatives in the church from 8:30am until the time of mass. Interment, at the convenience of the family in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Pittston. Memorial donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist, Care and Concern Ministries or to the SPCA. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
