Paul A. Balchun, 77, formerly of Pittston, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 in Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. Born in Pittston on August 9, 1939, he was the son of the late Anthony and Sophie Kozlowski Balchun. He was a graduate of Pittston High School, class of 1957 and served in the U.S. Army.
He was self-employed in the excavating/trucking business. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed camping and fishing as well as NASCAR.
He is survived by a daughter, Andrea Shaw, Kingston; sons, Paul J. Balchun and his wife Rhonda, Renovo; John Balchun, Pittston; Anthony Balchun and his wife Katherine, Arlington, VA; David Balchun and his wife Nancy, Wilkes-Barre; and Scott Balchun and his wife Abigail, Hershey; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; a sister, Irene Slick, CA; and his former wife, Margaret Mary Moran, Wyoming.
Friends may call Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston from 5pm to 7:30pm. A Blessing Service will follow at 7:30pm in the funeral home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
