Dolores A. Carey


Dolores A. Carey, 87, of Hughestown, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 in Wesley Village, Jenkins Township. Born in Pittston on August 18, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Henrietta Brodbeck Hensley. She was a graduate of Hughestown High School and in her earlier years, had worked in the local garment industry. She had also worked at Sallatins in Pittston.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Hughestown; the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hughestown Hose Company; and the ILGW Union.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Carey, Sr.; brothers Kenneth, Russell, Morlyn, Clarence and John Hensley and a sister, Ethel Strubeck.

Surviving are her son, Frank Carey, Jr. and his wife, Mary Ann, Pittston; grandchildren, Frank Carey, III and his wife Amanda, Pittston; Jennifer Dominick and her husband Joe, Wyoming; Michael Carey, King of Prussia; and Shannon Kazmerick, Virginia; great-granddaughters Abigail and Zoey Dominick and Veronica Carey; sister, Thelma VanWhy and her husband Art, Lancaster; sister-in-law, Barbara Hensely, Hughestown; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 9, 2017 at 10:00am in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston with Rev. Robert Sauers officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Hughestown. Friends may call Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 4pm-7pm at the funeral home.
