Leo J. Ochreiter, Jr.


Leo J. Ochreiter, Jr., 75, of Pittston passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 in Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre. Born in Pittston on August 12, 1941, he was the son of the late Leo J. Ochreiter, Sr. and Grace Gaughan Ochreiter.

He was a graduate of St. John’s High School, Pittston and Wilkes-Barre Business School. Leo had been employed in the local banking industry starting off at the Miner’s Bank and then with PNC Bank. He also worked at the former Norris’ Men’s Shop in Pittston and Pocono Downs Race Track.

Leo was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston and a third degree and an active member of the Knights of Columbus, JFK Council #372.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert J. Ochreiter.

Surviving are two nieces, Kelly Ciravolo and her husband Scott, Shavertown; Leslie Ochreiter and her husband Jonathan Hartley, Washington, DC; great nieces, a great nephew, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 9:30am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church on Thursday morning. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Pittston. Arrangements are entrusted to the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston.
