Joseph E. Delconte, 89, of Pittston Township passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Pittston Township on April 21, 1927, he was the son of the late Michael and Rachael Delconte.
Joseph graduated from Pittston Township High School and was last employed at Owens Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army.
He was an avid sports fan and loved New York Yankees baseball and Penn State football.
He was an active member of St. Joseph Marello Parish and its Holy Name Society.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Frank Delconte; sisters, Frances Insalaco Delconte and Angela Delconte.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years Pauline Piccillo Delconte; niece Debra McCulloch and her husband, Joe; and their children, Joe and Ryan McCulloch and Ashley Ferrese, Pittston Township; brothers, John Delconte and his wife Bruna, Albany, NY; and Michael Delconte and his wife Sylvia, West Chester; nephew, John David Delconte; nieces Judy Hackett and her husband Bob and their son, Mark; and Mara Shave and her husband Mike and their daughters, Rachael and Jessica; and great nephew, John Edward Shave.
Joseph was a kind and loving husband, brother and uncle who will be missed dearly and never forgotten.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00am from the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Rev. John Scherer will officiate. Friends may call Saturday morning from 9:00am until time of services at the funeral home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Rocco’s Cemetery, Pittston Township.
