Mary Theresa Hines, 91, of Pittston, passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 in Little Sisters of the Poor, Jeanne Jugan Residence, Washington, DC. Born in Carbondale on May 10, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Mae (Keating) Hines.
She was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School and later moved to Maryland where she had resided for over 50 years. She had worked as a Registered Nurse Assistant and also as a Nanny. She returned to Pittston and recently moved back to the Maryland area.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Rev. William F. Hines; John A. Hines, Sr.; and Joseph E. Hines; and sister, Jule H. Carmody.
Surviving are three sons, Joseph P. Brown, Washington, DC; Thomas J. Brown and Kevin J. Brown both of Annapolis, MD; two grandsons, Clay Christian Brown, Alexandria, VA and Kevin Christian Brown, Annapolis, MD; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, September 19, 2016 at 9:30am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church on Monday morning. Interment, parish cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 4pm to 7pm at the Peter J.
