Gloria E. Anzalone, 89, of Pittston passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 in Wesley Village, Pittston, four days after her husband, Joseph C. Anzalone passed away. They were married for 69 years. On June 14, 1947, she and her husband had the distinction of being the first honeymoon couple to fly out of the newly built Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Airport. Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore C. and Josephine O’Boyle Andaloro.
She was a graduate of Pittston High School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Anzalone; sisters, Josephine Adonizio and Marilyn Penyak; brothers, Cataldo and Samuel Andaloro.
Surviving are her son, Vincent Anzalone, Harveys Lake; daughters, Joyce Anzalone, Hanover Township and Gloria Anzalone, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren, Daphne Pugh and her husband Jarod; Christopher Shaffer; and Emily Norris and her husband Michael; great-grandchildren, Chase, Chloe, Claire and Cole Pugh; Brooke and Kaitlyn Norris; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank, again, the staff at Wesley Village for their compassionate and loving care over the years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Rocco’s Cemetery, Pittston Township. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Peter J. Adonizo Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston.
