Genevieve DeLuca


Genevieve DeLuca, 90, of Jenkins Township, passed away Friday, July 29, 2016 in Little Flower Manor, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Yatesville on December 9, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Maria Rubbico Capone.

She attended Yatesville schools. She was associated with the family business Mayfair Supper Club until its closure.

She was a former member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Pittston and St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James DeLuca; brothers, Sam, Patrick, infant Anthony and Anthony Capone; sisters, Carolina Acierno, Josephine Just, Margaret Gallo, Mary Costello and Eleanor Capone.

Surviving are her primary caregivers nephew, Joseph Costello, Yatesville; and niece, JoAnn Costanzo, Jenkins Township; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Capone, Gladwyne; Luciana DeLuca, Pittston and Betty DeLuca, Pittston; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 10:00am in St. Therese’s Parish, 64 Davis Street, Shavertown. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church on Wednesday morning. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 5pm-8pm at the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be in Mrs. DeLuca’s memory to Little Flower Manor, 200 South Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
