Michael Beckish


Michael Beckish, 72, of Scranton, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016 in Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Born in Pittston on April 9, 1943, he was the son of the late Michael and Lillian Prompovitch Beckish.

He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and attended truck mechanic trade school.

He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era. After working for twenty five years, he retired from Entenmann’s Bakery as a garage foreman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas and Richard Beckish and brother-in-law, Dominick (Bobo) Fino.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Catherine (Fino) Beckish; brother-in-law, Albert Fino and his wife Jane, Trumbull, CT; sister-in-law, Ann Beckish, Dalton; uncle, Joseph Aliciene, Sr., Pittston; numerous nieces, nephew, great-nieces; great-nephews; dog, Gemma and cat, Jack.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Regional Hospital and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for excellent care they provided to Michael.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 14, 2016 at 9:15am from the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Monday morning from 8:15am-9:15am at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
