Jean Giordina, 86, of Pittston, passed away Friday, February 19th, 2016 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late James N. “Gio” Giordina.
Born in Blakely on January 4th, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John and Lena (Bianchi) Sorcinelli. She was a graduate of Blakely High School.
Jean worked as a Teacher’s Aide in the Pittston Area School District for many years. She was a former member of St. Rocco’s Church, now St. Joseph Marello Parish. Jean was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a special aunt and great aunt. She will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was proceeded in death by a brother, Alvaro Sorcinelli. Surviving are her son, James “Gio” Giordina and his wife Erica, Pittston Township; grandchildren, Gracie and Danilo Giordina; sister-in-law Lillian Sorcinelli, Eynon; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Manganiello, Dr. Jeff D’Andrea, and Dr. Thomas Allardyce for the compassionate care given to Jean.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 23rd, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. at the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Marello Parish. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call Monday, February 22nd, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
